HCA Illustration and Alan Lee.

Too late to attend, but we wanted to flag up an amazing event that HCA Illustration took part in recently. Joining forces with The Museum of Modern Art Macynlleth and artist/director Clive Hicks-Jenkins the course teaching team joint curated a day long Study Seminar featuring a range of high quality practitioners and publishers. The extensive theme was 'artists and narrative' and the guest list included, Isabel Greenberg and Pam Smy, authors and illustrators of award winning graphic novels One Hundred Nights of Hero and Thornhill. We also heard presentations from Olivia Ahmed, chief curator of House of Illustration and Sherri Gee, the Art Director for The Folio Society. The key note event was Clive interviewing Fantasy Illustrator and Oscar winning Art Director of the Lord of the Rings trilogy Alan Lee. The students were thrilled to meet such a legend and they all got their books signed. We recorded the entire event so when we get round to a little editing and post-production we will post links to the talks.
